Hello from Naples! Rae and Fred took a weekend trip to Hanover, NH in September. It was for their annual trip to see a University of Pennsylvania football game with 14 of Fred’s fraternity brothers and their wives. They stayed at an inn in Woodstock, Vermont and had a fabulous time. The weather was perfect (unfortunately, the team lost to Dartmouth) and the food and company were great. Nicola and Jeff also travelled in September.
Hello from Naples! Rae and Fred took two separate trips in August. The first was a river cruise on the Danube and the second was to coastal Maine. Both were great. The river cruise left from Nuremberg Germany and ended in Budapest Hungary. They flew to Prague in the Czech Republic and spent a few days there before joining the ship. They also spent some extra time in Budapest at the end. As usual, for
Hello from Naples! Nicola, Jeff, Riley and Natalie had a wonderful western trip last month. First they traveled to Jackson Hole, WY where they enjoyed the charming town with a surprisingly good food scene, they visited the Tetons, went white water rafting on the Snake River and followed up with a day trip to Yellowstone and a visit to Old Faithful. Then they drove about 2 hours East of Jackson Hole to an even smaller
Hello from Naples! Here’s an insightful story: A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. Three minutes went by and a middle-aged man noticed there was musician
Hello from Naples! The end of the school year is always bustling with activity so we thought it would be fun to share some news about our recent family activities: Riley was just awarded her yellow belt in Krav Maga which is a system of defense and fighting developed for the Israeli military. She has been working at it for almost a year. Fred escorted Natalie to her year-end softball banquet since Jeff was out
Hello from Naples! The “season” in Naples has been a busy one this year…the final numbers are not in yet, but it appears tourist visits are up about 5% from last year. An interesting statistic showed that 40% of January visitors were here for the first time. We are starting to see evidence that the season is ending as car carriers are roaming the streets picking up vehicles to haul “up north”. Soon Interstate 75
Hello from Naples! Rae and Fred went on another Jazz Cruise in March. The trip originated in Ft. Lauderdale, which makes the experience very simple because it’s a short drive to the cruise terminal and there is parking right next to it; then all that’s left to do is simply board the ship and cruise! The line-up of smooth jazz artists was fantastic…all well-known and best sellers in the genre. This was their fourth or
Hello from Naples! Rae and Fred attended the YMCA Gala at the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club in February. The Gala included a dinner, auction and a great presentation of what the “Y” means to Naples residents. The proceeds support the “Y” and all of its initiatives, which include after school programs, day camps for kids, an early learning center, swimming and other fitness activities. The “Y” is going thru some challenging times right now…storm
